My Top 10 Films of 2015

These are the top 10 movies of 2015 for me. I rated them by how much I enjoyed them the first time watching and on a second viewing. There are some movies that I really wanted to see that I haven't seen yet so these are only based off of what I've seen so far.

1. Avengers: Age of Ultron

I am a huge nerd when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So my number one might be a little biased but it's my blog so I can do what I want so Age of Ultron comes in number one for me. I saw it 6 times in Cinemas and twice on Blu-ray, one of them being with the commentary. I've had a lot of fun watching it each time. It might not be a perfect film but for me it was a great sequel and a movie that I'm sure to continue to enjoy!

2. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Obviously this movie is on the list. It most likely probably should be #1 on the list. It was a fantastic movie, one I recently saw for a second time and absolutely enjoyed again. I shed a tear or more that time though. Probably the best movie of the year and now the highest domestic box office holder and rightfully so!

3. The Martian

This was one of the most surprising films of the year for me. I knew I was going to enjoy it but I didn't know I was going to enjoy it as much as I did. I mean they made a movie that is basically one man talking to himself, interesting! I've only seen it once but I plan to buy the Blu-ray as soon as I can when it comes out!

4. Mad Max: Fury Road

This was just a very well done piece of cinema for me. I've never seen any other Mad Max films but I gained interest from the first trailer and then the reviews hit and I knew I had to see it. It was my first experience seeing a movie in an Atmos sound theater and it was epic! I've only seen it once but if funds didn't hold me back I may have seen it two or three more times. I'm awaiting for my Blu-ray copy so I can watch it another time. I'll quote the film itself, "What a day, what a lovely day!" It sure was!

5. Kingsman: The Secret Service

This film was so much fun for me from beginning to end. It had some of the best action sequences that not only were visually awesome but also perfectly shot and choreographed. I saw it twice and enjoyed them both times!

6. Inside Out

Pixar has always had an excellent track record when it comes to their movies. With the exception of two, maybe three, I've loved all of their movies and Inside Out is no exception. It finds a way to tug on the feels strings in such a beautiful and lovely way. My girlfriend at the time pretty much told me she was about to break up with me going in, my bad for digging, right? I still loved the movie nonetheless. Another great outing for Pixar!

7. Ant Man

The MCU's second film of the year and another that was well made. I was a little sceptical when director Edgar Wright dropped out and after seeing the first trailer but I loved the idea of Paul Rudd playing a comic book character. There will always be a little part of me that will wonder what would the film been like if Wright had stayed. The version we got was good enough for me. I again, had such a fun time with this movie. The humor and action was great and keeping it small in scale of disaster was great since all of the other Phase 2 films the stakes where higher. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Ant Man in the MCU!

8. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

I've loved the Mission Impossible films since the third one. Tom Cruise always surprise me with what stunt he's going to do in the next Mission Impossible film. Though I didn't think it was quite as good as MI3 or Ghost Protocol, I still very much enjoyed this film. I can't wait to see what big stunt Tom Cruise does in the next Mission Impossible!

9. Furious 7

One last ride! Well, I guess there is an eighth one coming out so it wasn't quite the last one but it was very entertaining! With the tragic passing of Paul Walker putting production and filming on hold for a little bit, they still produced a great over the top movie that had some of the coolest over the to stuff it. Flying a car from one building to another, as much as it would probably kill a person in real life, was freaking awesome! The Fast and Furious movies have become some of the best over the top action films as of late and I'm entreaged with what they do next. It was also a great send of for Walker, who is greatly missed!

10. The DUFF

Yes, thats right, The DUFF. Now I know that this probably seems out of place and some may be thinking what the heck is this movie and why isn't Jurassic World on this list? I'll get to that later on but for now... The DUFF was the biggest movie of the year that I was pleasantly surprised with. I had a few friends who are girls that somewhat dragged me to it and I though it was going to be so dumb. It's one of those high school movies like Easy A, movies I don't usually enjoy. The only thing that looked appealing about it was that Community's Ken Jeong was in it. I actually found it quite hysterical. The lead casts were great and it added a new term for people to use. Designated Ugly Fat Friend. Not the nicest term but oh well. It has a good message that we all sometimes face with our insecurities and not being as cool or handsome as some of our friends and a pretty decent story to combine everything. I recently watch it again and I found myself surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It's a different genre than what I usually enjoy but sometimes different is a good thing!

This is why Jurrasic World didn't make my top 10 list. It's definitely in the top 20 but to me Jurassic World doesn't hold up on a second viewing. I got the digital copy when I pre-ordered it from Best Buy and I wasn't too impressed with it the second time through. I liked it but I probably won't watch it again any time soon. That's probably why I wanted to return the Blu-ray and also why I still haven't opened it since I bought it in October.

There are a few other movies I haven't seen yet but wanted to that could have knocked some of my top ten. The movies I really wanted to see but haven't had a chance to where The Peanuts Movie, Creed and Ex Machina. I've heard great things about those movies and I wish I would have seen them by the time I made this blog. If they make the list then I'll post an updated version after I see them or I might forget or not be bothered but in the end, it doesn't matter, this is only my opinion anyway!
